It is the largest of the high altitude lakes entirely within India and entirely within Ladakh in this Trans-Himalayan biogeographic region ,then Tso kar lake , known for its size and depth, is a fluctuating salt lake situated in the Rupshu Plateau. 4,530 metres (14,860 ft).
